Village Art Plaza
To promote the creativity of local artists and invite others to join in, Sunrise opened the Village Art Plaza on March 29th in its city, where residents and visitors gathered to admire large murals, artwork, and a variety of works and paintings created by local artists.
On opening day, Sunrise Mayor Mike Ryan, his elected commissioners, executives from various city departments, the Sunrise Chamber of Commerce, community leaders, and an enthusiastic crowd were present, supporting the picturesque setting. We were also able to observe painters and muralists such as Sergio Quiñonez and Elio Mercado with their works displayed in the plaza, as well as other painters working on their projects on the day of the event. The attractive plaza is the ideal place to observe and recognize the work of so many creative people in our Broward County.
The vibrant new public space where art, culture, and community converge in the heart of Sunrise and its vibrant neighborhoods is adjacent to the popular City Park, Village Multipurpose Center, and the Village Civic Center on the Sunset Strip.
Visitors can appreciate murals and sculptures designed by renowned artists, an interactive audio tour that shares the stories and inspirations behind each piece of art, a performance stage featuring local musicians, dance and cultural performance groups, and vegetation and landscaping for the comfort of all.
Village Art Plaza will be hosting Tasty Tuesdays once a week from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Farmers Markets on the second Saturday of the month from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Yoga on Monday mornings at 9:30 am, and History for Kids on the third Saturday of the month at 11:00 am, as well as Cinco de Mayo Night on the 5th of the month.
