Hispanic Vote, the event that integrates and connects it
with the leading figures of the county
If there's one event in Broward that truly helps you establish contact with elected officials and county leaders, it's Hispanic Vote.
Every month, on the last Wednesday of the month, at 6:30 pm, they meet at various establishments in the county and present high-ranking special guests to give educational and instructive talks on topics they master in the specialties they represent.
Last month, Broward County State Attorney Harold F. Pryor gave a talk about the work he does in his position.
The State Attorney is primarily responsible for prosecuting criminal offenses on behalf of the State of Florida within its jurisdiction. In this case, Broward County belongs to the 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida, which is where this office operates.
The State Prosecutor files criminal charges and decides, based on the evidence, whether a person will be formally charged with a crime, files charges in court, works with the police, negotiates agreements with the defense to avoid trial, protects victims with support programs to ensure their rights are respected, participates in sentencing, and recommends penalties to the judge after a conviction.
