Guillermo “Memo” Galeano left us on Sunday, August 4 with his great sense of humor and desire to live
A tireless fighter who helped his family and neighbors has left us.
He loved barbecues and enjoyed a good game of parqués, especially when money was at stake.
It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to Guillermo Galeano, who left us on the morning of Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Kindred Hospital in Hollywood. Born on April 21, 1956 in Armenia, Quindío, Colombia. Guillermo, this great Colombian was the beloved son of the late Bernardo Galeano and Celina Guzmán. A man of humble beginnings; he grew up with limited resources, but never allowed that to discourage him. Through hard work, determination, and an indomitable spirit, he made a life for himself and his family in the United States where he worked as a messenger. Known for his noble character, good humor, and kindness, he dedicated his life to helping others.
Guillermo's love of barbecue was a cornerstone of his family's life. He was the master of barbecues in his home, often spending Sundays cooking delicious meals, surrounded by those he loved most, whether it was a casual gathering or a special occasion, Guillermo found immense joy in preparing food that brought everyone together. His family and those of us who knew him and shared with him will always fondly remember those Sundays filled with laughter, good food and the warmth of his presence.
In addition to his talents at barbecues, Guillermo, or Memo as he was known, also enjoyed a good game of parqués, especially when money was at stake. He had a particular love for eating buñuelos and drinking café con leche, simple pleasures that brought him great joy. These moments of friendly competition and sharing meals with family and friends will be fondly remembered by all of us who truly appreciated his friendship.
Guillermo was a fighter in the truest sense, a man who worked tirelessly to provide for his family and ensure their well-being. His children remember him as a father who was always there for them, a guiding light who offered support and unconditional love.
Guillermo Galeano's memorial service took place on August 7, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Alexander - Levitt Funeral Homes, located in the city of Tamarac. It was truly moving to see Guillermo's family and friends send off with Mariachis, celebrating the life of a man who touched many with his kindness and generosity.
Memo leaves behind his current wife, Gloria Aguirre, and his children: Angela Claudio, Gonzalo Galeano, Juliana Galeano, Gustavo Galeano, Heidi Galeano, Guillermo, “Nenito” Galeano, and Vanessa Galeano. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Gustavo Guzman, Cielo Guzman, Javier Toro, Noralba Toro, Mary Toro, Bladimir Rincon, Gegner Guzman, Ivan Toro, and Lucero Toro, who will cherish his memory.
Guillermo's legacy will live on through the countless lives he impacted. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.
